If We Hold On Together...

A comment in this blog about Dinky Soliman got me laughing so hard. He said Dinky and Enteng should not have been arrested at Baywalk, but her future employer should fire her the moment she begins singing "If We Hold On Together."

The reason why I laughed so hard was because, coincidentally, a fellow teacher at the College where I teach works at Malacanang. And just yesterday, this co-teacher was narrating to us (in full emote mode - you know -gesturing frantically and acting the scene out in an exaggerated way) just exactly how that infamous choral rendition played out. Picture this in your mind: Dinky so overcome with emotions she was practically sobbing when she led in the singing. In the first place, I really can't picture cabinet secretaries singing that song while trying to look dignified (yay!).

A company that I consult for used to have that song as their company "theme song." They would hold hands and sing that song at the end of their social gatherings. They have since stopped the practice because employees would end up kidding each other, wondering out loud who among them was a Dinky Soliman.

I have no doubt Dinky and Jamby will make it big in movie screens, perhaps even surpassing and putting shame to Juday's acting talent...these two characters is just what we need to boost our movie industry, no faking but real sobbing, weeping, screaming and fainting.

Man, I love this country! There is an easy access to entertainment everywhere because the "politicians" are thespians themselves. Woohoo! Seriously, what's the hidden motive behind all these charade by Soliman anyway...hmmmm! Enlighten me Bong!

Hi, Bong, just read your latest blog, I open your blogspot every now and then, well, since that now-famous-open-letter-of-yours. Anyway, re Dinky-doo, I remember an officemate who said, right after her turnaround, that she hates the sight of her coz she's so fake. We all questioned her delicadeza, dahil kung marami syang nakitang mali kay GMA being her seemingly most favored cabinet member eh bakit sya nagtagal, at paiyak-iyak pa sya wanting to hold on to her job when Noli wanted it. She looked pathetic with her palusot when confronted at Baywalk! Was that a former Cabinet Sec?!!!
Another matter re these opinion polls, may I suggest you read today's (March23) op-ed column of Ann Coulter, that ultra-rightist American columnist, about news polls in the US. Not that I agree with her all the time (am no die-hard conservative nor liberal, maybe middle of the road-er ako) but i always have a good laugh reading her because she uses the most colorful, abusive language!
Anyway, in that column she could have been talking about Philippine news polls! That they only serve to brainwash the public, etc.etc. Myself, I always wonder about the credibility of these polls. Well, anyone who has some science training (ahem, like me) and who passed all her Stats courses (ahem, like me) would think about sampling techniques, sample size, location etc. etc. That's why these polls have long stopped being anything to me, kahit nung time pa ni FVR at Erap. I wonder what the others think.
Ciao, (40-something) MommyJo

I understand what you are saying and I was laughing too. There is just something about this woman that turns me off. I just have a hard time trusting her......Something seems to be written somewhere in her that says...."hard to trust....kahit kailan lalo NOW NA....!Her personal agenda is trying to come out everytime she holds on.

Hey jher, were you talking to me, the paragon of wit you called me? I wonder what caused your outburst. If you were referring to me, MommyJo, may I ask you to read my comment again. I was just suggesting to Bong to read that Coulter column beacuse that was interesting, it was like she wrote about our news polls, no insults to you or Bong whatsoever. Yung paehem-ahem ko, napaka-mabirong tao ko, I can even be self-deprecating, so wag mong ka-seryoso yon. Ano at inaatake mo na yata ako? Ano ba yan! Anyway, sabi mo wala ako balls, if you are a male, wala nga ako ng kagaya ng balls mo dahil very female ako with 5 beautiful kids. But the other type of balls, I have plenty to spare. Anyway FYI I am Jocelyn Dicen-Labios and I am a researcher with UP Los Banos. And oh before I forget, I am in the same side as Bong's. Have always been that way thru all these hullaballoo.
Ciao, MommyJo

Ooops, Jher, so maybe you were not referring to me because I have just found out I wasn't anonymous#1. Something went wrong when i opened this blog, it didn't immediately show all the comments so i thought i was #1. Ok, no problem, and i have just revealed who I am! But for what it's worth, don't make these comments anger you, cool lang tayo, hayaan na lang natin na sila ang himatayin sa galit everytime Bong does a witty blog. Di ba importante we express ourselves, so march on! Ciao again, MommyJo

You don't have to be a psychologist to get into Dinky's mind. She made the biggest error in her life joining the Hyatt 10 believing at that very moment PGMA's administration is going to collapse. As devout christian she is, have realized what Judas she has been. This is too much for her conscience to bear, and the only way to absolve her from this corrosive shame is to destroy the one person she once loved so much. She doesn't have to hang herself for redemption. All she has to do is simply confess and ask for forgiveness - and that's the christian way to do.

I used to love that song by Diana Ross. The lyrics are so meaningful. We sing that song each time one of our team-building seminars nears it's end. We hold hands in the dark and almost always, it brings a tear or two.
The song gives more meaning to the word 'camaraderie'.

But now, that song annoys me each time I hear it. Know why? ...because the face of Dinky Soliman slowly creeps into my mind's eye.
Now, I associate that song with the word 'treachery'.

Mommy Jo - Hahahah funny naman your outburst na reveal mo tuloy real name mo. But that's okay. It's not really about anyone talking sides. I just find it really duwag for some people to criticize when they can't even back their criticism with their identities. Yun lang naman. :-)
